The Maheshwari Legacy
The iconic Maheshwari fabric originated in Maheshwar in the 18th century under the patronage of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, the visionary queen of the Maratha Malwa kingdom. Known for its geometrical zari-resham motifs, intricate borders inspired by the stone carvings of Maheshwar Fort, and an extremely fine texture, Maheshwari fabric is a heritage in motion.
Its unique weaving style produces a light, airy, glossy fabric with high elasticity and comfort — perfect for all seasons. Natural vegetable dyes lend its color palette an earthy elegance. Historically, Maheshwari sarees were gifts of honor, presented to royal relatives by the queen herself.
